Background:
I come from a very artistic family. My grandmother worked with several different mediums from sketching, printing, ceramics to oil painting. My mother painted in oil and acrylic, and my aunt and uncle were graphic designers and later, art directors / production designers for several TV shows and films.
As a child, art and music were always being talked about. My mother often took me to art galleries and encouraged me to think about and discuss the art that was before me. I like to think that this exposure to art as a child has stayed with me and given me my own style.
Initially, I started by composing for piano and I still compose today. Only recently, however, have I taken up the paint brush. In 2016, I bought myself some painting tools and decided to teach myself how to paint in acrylics.
I have no formal training and therefore I am definitely still on my journey. I can see some improvement in my work, but I have a long way to go. My uncle, who also recently took up painting (and is a very talented painter), has given me a few lessons in using acrylic paints and watercolour.
So, I have decided to post pictures of my art works to see my progress, and also to overcome my incredible fear of making mistakes and failing.
Below are some of my earliest paintings. Some, I hate. Some, I like because I can see a little improvement here and there.

Beach No.1 - My first attempt with acrylic painting. Inspired from a picture that I took in Yamba, Australia.
For this painting, I was happy with the way I painted the waves and the sea foam. The colours I have used are so intense - definitely not the same as in the photo! Nevertheless, it has a magical quality that I like, even if the technique is not so good.

Yamba Light house No.1 - On a cold and windy, starry night: above us, a shooting star!
Not a good photo of this painting. I was happy with the shading on the light house and the little lights coming from the fishing boats in the distance. Although not realistic, I like the glow coming from the light house. Once again, a magical quality, but not so good in regards to technique. Thinking of my more recent paintings, I do actually like this 'magical' style.
